After completing a BA in Geography, James went on to take an MA in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia, which he completed in 2005.

James has previously worked for a local NGO in Nepal teaching English to children in the Kathmandu Valley and has also volunteered for Banana Link, a Fair Trade NGO. After working as a fundraiser for a creative arts charity for over two years, he then joined ICT as Programmes Assistant on a secondment from IGS, one of ICT’s corporate supporters.
