Where the money goes

International Childcare Trust is a small charity with very low overheads. As such, the children we aim to help are able to get the most out of the donations we receive.

ICT support partners who give some of the world’s most vulnerable children back their childhood. This includes AIDS orphans, street and working children, those displaced by extreme poverty, disease or armed conflict and those from broken homes.

The money that you donate to ICT goes towards implementing practical solutions for these children, such as education and vocational training so as to prepare them for independent living and reintegration back into society.

Your donation also goes towards tackling the root causes of poverty and displacement, through projects targeting urban slums and street shanties, and extreme poverty in rural areas.

ICT is also actively involved in supporting programmes that teach children and young people about their rights, so that they will not be exploited. Organisational development is also supported, so that solutions are sustainable.

Through ICT you can:

Give a child a safe environment to grow - £6 a month will protect a child from abuse and exploitation through our outreach social workers and community centres and offer traumatised children counselling support. Set up a standing order today and make a long term commitment to protecting a child.

Send a child to school - £40 will enable an orphaned child to buy school uniform and clothes. These basics allow orphans the opportunity to enrol in primary school and restart their lives.

Train youths for a brighter future - £105 would help to provide bursaries for three deprived young people looking for options for the future. They can benefit from skills training in cookery, sewing, mechanics, plumbing, English and computers.

£800 provides... child protection training to local businesses in Sihanoukville (Cambodia), such as hostels, tuk-tuk drivers and internet cafes, to enable them to recognise and report child abuse/suspicious behaviour and help protect local children from dangerous situations.
£1,000 provides... the annual salary of a teacher at Kalki Drop-in Centre in Pondicherry – who helps provide remedial/life skills education for up to 300 street children each day.
£1,800 provides... medical check ups, basic treatment & hospital referrals for 150 children living with HIV/AIDS in Tanzania each year.
