As you may know every year several teams from the Financial Sector battle it out in our Annual Financial Sector Pub Quiz to raise funds for International Childcare Trust. This year's quiz was held at the Abacus Bar, was sponsored by IGS and was bigger and better than ever!

Participants from investment banks, law firms, accounting firms, rating agencies, media and more took part and, in all, £8600 was raised for ICT, which will directly support the needs of 100 HIV/AIDS affected children in Tanzania.

Everybody had a great night, building team and company pride and, once the serious business of the quiz was out of the way, the evening provided an excellent opportunity for networking. Plus, even if you were not on the winning team you will still had a chance to win prizes in our raffle and auction.

ICT is a founding member of BOND (British Overseas NGOs for Development, http://www.bond.org.uk), a consortium of British NGOs, from the very big ones like Oxfam to the very small ones like ICT!

Over the years, ICT has been a major advocate of BOND, recognising BOND as an appropriate vehicle for UK international non-governmental organisations to come together and advocate for and learn about international development and how we can come together to work towards the MDGs and poverty eradication.

ICT has contributed its perspective through various BOND forums, including campaigns, working groups, surveys and training sessions. In 2006, ICT’s Executive Director, Margaret O’Grady, made an even greater commitment to BOND by joining its Board of Trustees.

A group of participants in the Cycle Kenya Challenge organised a comedy evening which took place at Jongleurs, Battersea on 7th March 2007 to raise money for the event. The event was organised by Geoff Egan and others.

A fun evening was had by all!

ICT is organising a new Cycle Challenge - and, for the first time, it will be in Kenya! This latest Challenge is scheduled to take place from 9th November 2007 to 18th November 2007.

As with our previous Challenges in Sri Lanka, India and Cambodia, participants will have the opportunity to visit an ICT project and see the positive outcomes of their fundraising efforts.

	Pete Hammond on the Three Forts Run

Planning to run one marathon is not an unusual occurrence for some, whilst attempting to run six marathons over a short period of time is a huge achievement. But, attempting to run six marathons in six days across the Sahara, whilst carrying all your own food and equipment is just crazy!

Maybe so, but this is what Pete Hammond (Creative Director at Phoenix, one of ICT's biggest supporters) is doing in March next year when he takes part in the toughest footrace in the world, the ‘Marathon des Sables’.

The race entails crossing 151 miles across some of the most inhospitable terrain on the planet in temperatures of 120ºF, whilst carrying all his own provisions, apart from water, which is strictly rationed, and a Bedouin tent to sleep in.

Why? I hear you cry. The aim is to raise money for the International Childcare Trust!

Last year Pete cycled across Sri Lanka, seeing at first hand just what the International Childcare Trust is creating through their education programmes. ‘These programmes are making a real difference. The children who go through them are then equipped to find good jobs and bring money back into the community and raise the standard of living for everyone. Whatever I go through in the desert is nothing compared to what these kids go through just to get by’ says Pete.
