This year ICT was able to obtain funding to begin an agri-development
project, which will move Dikkelle even closer to self-sufficiency.
Before MVP began to implement the agricultural project, it
commissioned a feasibility study, which was conducted by the
Agricultural Land Management and Consultancy Service. The
study examined the land conditions at MVP and concluded that
if MVP cultivates fruits, vegetables and even orchids on its
lands, Dikkelle cannot only become self sufficient in terms
of its food needs, but if fully funded and implemented over
the next three years, the entire programme of health and educational
needs at Dikkelle can be covered by income generated from
sale of surplus fruits and vegetables locally and nationally
and the sale of orchids nationally and on the world market.
ICT is very keen to support a project that could eventually
mean self-sufficiency for one of its long-term strategic partners.
